President’s Letter

Dear Member:

These are certainly days that create concerns on many levels. We are concerned about both physical and financial health. While concern is natural, excessive concern can be as debilitating, if not more so, than the threat itself. This is particularly true in the area of financial health and well-being.

I have found that information can help relieve a good deal of anxiety that one may have about their financial health. There are resources available to help you in getting the information you need to lower the level of concern.

  • In May, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced that the three national credit reporting agencies would be making free credit reports available to consumers on a weekly basis for the next year. Keeping tabs on your credit report is a good way to know if you are staying on track in trying to improve your financial health.
  • AFFCU is proud to offer our members a robust collection of online courses available on our website to aid you in understanding the elements of maintaining your financial health.
  • If you are experiencing challenges keeping you from being able to make your payments, our caring staff members will give you advice for your particular situation. We are just a phone call away.

Now it’s easier than ever to check your credit report more often. Many Americans are concerned about their financial health during this challenging time. With that in mind, the nation’s three credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian, and Transunion, have decided to provide people with free weekly access to their credit report for a year. To get your free reports, visit

When reviewing your credit report, be sure to correct any errors you find by notifying the credit reporting agencies directly. If you owe a company money, reach out to the business and ask about postponing your payments, payment plans, or temporary forbearance.

Regularly checking your credit report plays a crucial role in helping you manage your finances. Your credit report contains information about your credit and payment history, which financial institutions and businesses review when you apply for loans or other lines of credit.

The More The Merrier

AFFCU is excited to expand its field of membership to those who live, work, worship, or attend school in Clay, Lowndes, and Oktibbeha counties in Mississippi. The expansion came after approval from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).

The Credit Union was welcomed into the Golden Triangle community with the opening of its first branch outside the state of Texas in Columbus, Mississippi in October 2019.  We believe our products, services, and outstanding record of member service will positively impact the lives of additional prospective members who before now, would not have been eligible to join the credit union.



AFFCU Loan Relief Program

AFFCU is offering many programs and services to assist our members impacted by COVID-19, including:

  • Loan Extension Program – You can now skip your payments for the next 60 days on your eligible AFFCU loan without paying a fee, and we are making the application process easy and stress-free. Simply call our Member Contact Center, answer a few questions and you’re done!  If you would like to request a loan extension on your AFFCU loan, call us today at 800.227.5328.
  • Pandemic/Disaster Loan – We are offering a special loan for those members encountering financial hardship, and are in need of help with the basics, such as groceries and gas. Our PDL has a maximum amount of $2,500, offers rates as low as 7.00% APR*, and terms up to 24 months. Loan subject to credit approval.
