AFFCU Website and Security Privacy Policy

Keeping the financial and personal information of our members secure is one of our most important responsibilities.

Purpose

Keeping the financial and personal information of our members secure is one of our most important responsibilities. We value our members trust and handle personal information with care. We are committed to protecting the information of members and visitors who use are website. As with information we collect through other means, we use the information provided online to respond to our member’s needs, service their accounts, and provide them with information about other services.

Secure Transmissions

AFFCU’s site requires the use of secure browsers to protect the member while they access our online services. Secure browsers allow our member to communicate with our website in a protected session by encrypting information that flows between them and the site. To verify their session is secure, they can look for https: instead of http: in the URL address line and a secure symbol (for example, closed padlock or key) on the status bar of their browser located on the lower part of the screen.

Email Security

Regular internet email is not secure. A member should never provide any sensitive or confidential information including account numbers, social security numbers, etc., using regular email. To send sensitive information to AFFCU, a member should logon to CyberMAT online banking and send their message via the message center.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of information that a website stores directly on the computer the member is using. Cookies may contain a variety of information, from a simple count of how often they visit a website to information which allows customization of a website for the member’s use. AFFCU may use cookies to gather data about the usage of our website and to ensure that the member has access to their account information. Anytime a cookie is used, personal information is encrypted for our use only and is protected from third party access (a cookie cannot be read by a website other than the one that sets the cookie.)

Linking To Other Sites

AFFCU provides links to business partner websites and to other resource websites as a courtesy. While AFFCU may provide links to external websites, they are not operated by AFFCU. AFFCU is not responsible for any external website information, content, presentation, or accuracy. When leaving AFFCU’s website, its Privacy Policy is no longer in effect. Once an AFFCU visitor visits another website, the web privacy and security is defined by that website’s own policies. When accessing any third party content through AFFCU website, we encourage visitors to review the privacy policy and security policy offered on that site before providing any personal information. AFFCU does not guarantee or assume liability for any third party product or service obtained through AFFCU’s website. AFFCU does not represent either the owner of the website or individuals who enter into a transaction.
