Member Experience You Love
My tenure at AFFCU has quickly exceeded the 100-day mark. With February already here I want to assure you that the AFFCU staff is hard at work each day to make sure we’re providing our members with service that has kept them loyal to AFFCU for 68 years.
When we think about our day-to-day lives, we probably all experience some type of member service interaction at least once whether we know it or not. The work that each department within AFFCU does, even those who are less member-facing than others, directly impacts you. Your finances and your financial institution play a pivotal role in you and your family’s life. Our team doesn’t take this lightly. AFFCU understands you need a great member experience whether you’re in a branch, on your mobile device, online, over the phone, or in the drive-thru lane.
A goal for the credit union as a whole is to put a spotlight on the experience AFFCU provides to all of our members. While much of the specifics are still underway, I want you to know that the area of member experience is being worked on in every aspect possible.
My initial impression of AFFCU was and still is that this credit union is financially strong and stands behind the core values and mission. I can proudly say that the team here is committed to our members. We believe this touch is unique to AFFCU and isn’t going anywhere. We’re amplifying this sentiment as we move forward with the changes on the horizon. We’re not just looking for quick changes tomorrow, but those that will support you and your family for another 68 years. I assure you these improvements will let you know how much your membership means to us.

Tips for Personal and Privacy Health
At the start of a new year, we all feel the excitement and possibility of making positive changes in our lives. One of the most popular is improving your health.
There is a wealth of apps, promising to help you track your health conditions, count your calories, manage your medications, or predict your ovulation. These apps often ask for some of your most sensitive personal information, like your health history and medication list.
Some apps use that sensitive information to provide you helpful information and services based on your answers. But others may use it for their research, to target you with ads, or disclose — or even sell — your data to other companies. Unlike your doctor, these apps may not be covered by health privacy laws like HIPAA.
Here are some things to help you avoid the possible risks with these types of health apps:
- Compare privacy protections. Many competing health apps offer similar services. When choosing between apps, compare their privacy protections. Look for a privacy notice that explains in simple terms what health information the app collects from you, as well as how it uses and shares your information with other companies and users.
- Take control of your sensitive information. Take a look at the app’s settings to see if it gives you control over what health information it collects and shares. An app’s default settings often encourage sharing, so it can be useful to select more protective options.
- Keep your app up to date. App updates sometimes include important fixes for privacy or security glitches. One of the best ways to protect your information is to keep your app (and your phone’s operating system) up to date.
- Recognize the risks. Some companies don’t uphold their privacy promises. Sharing sensitive information always carries risks, so be sure you’re comfortable with what you’ve shared, in case privacy promises aren’t kept.
